Jon Huey is creative individual based in the Portland area who loves both collaborating with others and working on solo projects. Jon strives to create work for each client that fits with their style or brand—always keeping an open mind and a positive attitude. Jon's curiosity, adaptability, and humility allows for great ideas to come to life.

Jon has a documentary style that gives his images a natural and candid look. He believes that, in addition to showing beauty, images must tell a story in order to be effective. Understanding how the images will be used informs his process and gives graphic designers room for text. This makes him an ideal collaborator for advertising and editorial projects.

After graduating from The Evergreen State College, Jon worked at his alma mater as the publications photographer. Following his passion for longboarding, he traveled through North America and Europe, freelancing for some industry leaders. He has done regular work for Landyachtz, Sector 9, and many longboarding events.

Following two years on contract with Skate[Slate], a website and magazine dedicated to longboarding, he become the art director—quickly learning graphic design along the way. Since then, his graphic design experience has furthered his ability to give clients what they need.

Working for Pediment Publishing most recently has given him more experience with page layout, typography, and photo editing and retouching. Along with a team of production artists, Jon produced assets for 30+ book publishing projects annually, including book layouts, book covers, logos, and promotional artwork (newspaper and digital advertisements, social media graphics, flyers, and email campaigns).

Jon is the official photographer for the Maryhill Ratz Freerides that occur twice a year at Maryhill Loops Road in Washington State. He is also the DJ and stage manager for the musical entertainment during the evening.

When he's not working, he can be found traveling, hiking, backpacking, biking, skating, cooking, and spending quality time with his partner and their dog Ethyl. He also follows his passion for music as DJ HueyLove, releasing mixes with cover art that he designs and occasionally performing at private functions.
